RAC Community Working Groups, Sept. 14
In partnership with California State University, Northridge, LA Civil Rights and its Reparations Advisory Commission invite community members to join three collaborative working groups this month to brainstorm specific reparations ideas. All are welcome to participate in the small, in-person sessions. We hope to hear in particular from the following demographics that were underrepresented in responses to our Black Experience Study:

LA Civil Rights' Transgender Advisory Council is joining a coalition of transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming community leaders along with local service providers and law enforcement to forge a new path forward — one of understanding, respect, and genuine protection. Through open dialogue, education, and actionable solutions, we commit to transforming the relationship between law enforcement and the transgender community into one that affirms and safeguards every individual's right and dignity.

Panel Discussion: Latinas Leading Change
In celebration of Latino Heritage Month, observed from September 15 to October 15 each year, the LA Civil Rights Department is proud to present “Latinas Leading Change: Trailblazers in Advocacy, Philanthropy, Business, Academia, Entertainment, and Wealth,” on October 8, 2024, at 5:30 PM. at the Latino Theater Company. Parking will be available for $8.

This year, for THREE nights iconic landmarks across LA will be illuminated once the sun goes down to acknowledge THREE years of fighting hate in LA and in celebration of THREE things: diversity, solidarity, and an #LAForAll.
