LA Civil Rights and our Office of Racial Equity provides research and equity analysis on city policy and programs. Through this work, we create more equitable city policy for a more just and inclusive Los Angeles.
Some of our policy work will include:
- Citywide Racial Equity Audit: The Office of Racial Equity will conduct a Racial Equity Audit of existing City programs, policies and practices to determine whether Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) face systemic barriers in accessing benefits and opportunities available across the City. - Annual Budget Equity Report: The Office of Racial Equity will submit an equity report on the annual city budget, proposed each spring by the Mayor and considered by the City Council. Click here to read our equity report on the 2021-2022 proposed budget.
- Economic Equity for African-Americans: The Office of Racial Equity will create A Plan to Address Barriers to Economic Stability Among African Americans, addressing economic and structural barriers to advancement for African Americans, in part by facilitating LAHSA' s Ad Hoc Report on Black People Experiencing Homelessness and the "No Going Back LA" Report.
