OPEN POSITIONS:
The City of Los Angeles, Civil, Human Rights, and Equity Department (LA Civil Rights) is seeking a highly talented college student or recently graduated student to conduct policy research, community outreach, and develop strategies around Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
The Department is currently operating in a hybrid format; in-person attendance will be required. We anticipate the Policy Fellow will report working in person at least 4 hours per week, however, this is subject to change depending on department needs. Working hours will vary depending on the department’s operational needs and the student’s schedule. Generally, the department is open Monday - Friday from 8 am - 5 pm; some weekend and night hours may be required for special events. The work schedule will be finalized with the candidate so that work hours can be mutually beneficial, however, this position must be available a minimum of 10 hours per week. The position cannot exceed 20 hours per week or 1,000 total hours in a single calendar year. Freshman and Sophomores - $20.13/Hr, Junior, and Senior - $24.27/Hr, Graduate Student $26.47/Hr
The Policy Fellow will conduct research as it pertains to addressing long-standing discrimination impacting underserved and marginalized communities; will work with staff to develop innovative approaches to visually communicate programming, data, and policy developments; will work with staff to conduct policy research, community outreach, and develop strategies around Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; will support the department's commission and advisory boards; participate in the preparation of research reports, briefs, and presentations; and other related work as assigned. This is a hybrid position allowing for some remote and in-person work.
