WATCH: LA This Week - Hot Topic: Menopause Roundtable
LA Civil Rights and our Commission on the Status of Women hosted a powerful roundtable on Menopause Policies Across Global Cities, hosted in partnership with our Commission on the Status of Women, Councilwoman Katy Yaroslavsky (CD5), and City Hub and Network for Gender Equity (CHANGE). The panelists explored how Los Angeles can lead on supportive workplace policies for menopausal employees by sharing strategies and uplifting global best practices.
Petra Persson, Associate Professor of Economics at Stanford University, shared her research on the Menopause Penalty, and the economic impact Menopause has on women's livelihoods.
The City of Melbourne shared a presentation on policies they've applied to become a Menopause Friendly Accredited employer.
This conversation came just days before Latina Equal Pay Day on October 8th, a reminder of how many women face overlapping challenges when it comes to wage equity and workplace support.
