Transgender Day of Remembrance 2024: A Community Convening

WHAT: The City of Los Angeles Transgender Advisory Council and LA Civil Rights Department invite the public to join in honoring the lives lost to anti-trans violence at the 2024 Transgender Day of Remembrance: A Community Convening. This solemn event allows the community, city leaders, and allies to come together in remembrance and solidarity.

Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), observed annually, is a powerful reminder of the violence faced by the transgender, gender-diverse, and intersex community. It also emphasizes the importance of visibility, solidarity, and collective action supporting the TGI community. This convening will be a place for healing, resilience, and remembrance, where allies, advocates, and community members unite in shared purpose.

WHEN: Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM

WHERE: Tom Bradley Tower, Los Angeles City Hall, 200 N Spring St, Los Angeles, CA 90012

WHO:  Interview opportunities will be available with LA Civil Rights Department Executive Director Capri Maddox, Esq., TAC Chairperson Eden Anai Luna, and other members of the Transgender Advisory Council.

The event’s highlights will include a reading of the names of the community members lost this year to honor the lives lost to violence. Beyond remembrance, this convening will also serve as a call to action, underscoring the city’s commitment to ensuring a safer, more inclusive Los Angeles for TGI individuals.
