LOS ANGELES - Today, the LA Civil Rights Department released an inside look into the creation of the department - LA's first to enforce civil rights law. The story of LA Civil Rights begins not in city hall, but the streets and meeting halls of Los Angeles, where workers, community leaders, and a multiethnic coalition worked together to bring local civil rights enforcement to LA.
Hear directly from the activists and organizers who made this department happen - and their hopes for the future. Thank you to Lola Smallwood Cuevas, Janel Bailey, The LA Black Worker Center, Maegan Ortiz, and IDEPSCA for your participation in this project. To learn more about our story, click here.
