Following the recent violent attack on street vendor Arabelia Martinez, the Los Angeles Civil Rights Department, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, Council District 1 representatives, and community leaders came together to condemn hate and reaffirm their commitment to protecting street vendors and workers throughout Los Angeles. Speakers emphasized that hate, discrimination, intimidation, and violence have no place in the City of Los Angeles. Officials reaffirmed that street vendors and small business owners deserve to work without fear and highlighted the importance of reporting crimes so law enforcement can investigate incidents and hold offenders accountable.
