Eight community-based organizations will operate Peace & Healing Centers across nine REPAIR Zones. Each Peace & Healing Center will offer social, economic, or environmental healing but will craft unique programming to meet their community's needs. Learn more about each Peace & Healing Center below.
El Nido Family Centers: Arleta-Pacoima and Mission Hills - Panorama City - North Hills Zones
El Nido Family Centers will provide a safe space for community members to address structural and institutional racism, made apparent as the COVID-19 pandemic disproportionately impacted our low-income communities of color.
The Panorama City Peace & Healing Center will provide a Healing Fair, Storytelling Workshops, Healing Circles, Alternative Methods of Healing, Healing through the Arts, Healing in Practice, Critical Dialogues/Critical Pláticas, Monthly Community Gatherings and Food Distribution events.
The Arleta-Pacoima Peace & Healing Center will provide nutrition classes; culinary classes; a food pantry/bank; and gardening. Also offered will be a monthly Farmers Market; food handling/street vendor permitting workshops; and financial literacy series.
Central City Neighborhood Partners (CCNP): Westlake Zone
The CCNP Westlake Peace and Healing Center will provide the community with a safe and welcoming space that supports interracial and intergenerational interactions. Programming will be offered a minimum of 40 hours per week to support racial healing, community connection, and to ensure community members have the resources needed to heal.
The Westlake Peace & Healing Center will provide navigation, grocery food distribution with integrated nutrition education, and weekly workshops focused on environmental and social healing, development of a community garden, a women’s healing group and healing through art, movement, and meditation.
Bryant Temple AME CDC: West Adams - Baldwin Village - Leimert Park Zone
Bryant Temple AME Community Development Corporation is excited to open its doors and offer a place of Peace, Economic and Social Healing.
The West Adams - Baldwin Village - Leimert Park Peace & Healing Center will provide bi-weekly food distribution, mental health counseling services, financial literacy workshops, life skills training and mentoring services for at-risk youth. In Partnership with Community Veteran Justice Program (CVJP) Bryant Temple AME will provide support for justice-involved Military members and Veterans to help them navigate the Social and Justice systems. Bryant Temple AME will also provide Intergenerational opportunities to engage and build relationships with our senior communities, reducing isolation and providing an outlet for conversations and support across intergenerational community members.
Creating Justice LA: Skid Row Zone
The Creating Justice LA Peace and Healing Center is a place of innovation, creativity and exploration. Located in LA’s rich skid row neighborhood, the center is a soothing, calming and interactive respite from the world outside its doors.
The Skid Row Peace & Healing Center will provide shared meals, and mending community through art, meditation, and power-building. They provide immersive education in music, health and fitness, creative expression, visual art, photography, entrepreneurship and more. Anchored by The Hip Hop Smoothie Shop the CJLA Peace and Healing Center serves healthy food and smoothies to community and houseless residents eat and drink at no cost to them.
Proyecto Pastoral: Boyle Heights Zone
Proyecto Pastoral’s Peace and Healing Center for the community of Boyle Heights will offer programming and events to support social, environmental and economic healing.
The Boyle Heights Peace & Healing Center will provide recreational programming including Zumba for all ages, music and art classes for youth, a weekly club for seniors, as well as wellness supports for youth including communication workshops and restorative justice circles. Youth will also be able to participate in life skills programming during summer. High school students will have the opportunity to participate in environmental workshops and excursions, workshops for English Learners, as well as career events.
Residents will have the opportunity to pick up bags of fresh groceries three times a week at one of our sites, and participate in monthly nutrition workshops across different sites in Boyle Heights. Office hours will be held at Dolores Mission Church.
Volunteers of America Los Angeles (VOALA): Southeast Los Angeles Zone
VOALA has been serving our community’s most vulnerable individuals since its founding in 1896. It's current programs in Southeast LA include extensive community outreach, engagement, drop-in centers for at-risk youth, and a wide array of housing, life skills education, and other supportive services.
The Southeast LA Peace & Healing Center will provide trauma-informed behavioral health services, life skills workshops, interracial and intergenerational conversations and community building, employment soft skills training and linkages to vocational training and placement services, resilience, and community healing for individuals and families impacted by systemic and institutional racism in Southeast Los Angeles.
Para Los Niños: South Los Angeles Zone
Para Los Niños (PLN) South LA Peace and Healing Center will address social, economic, and environmental racism in communities through healing-centered programming that operationalizes racial justice and reconciliation. Para Los Niños (PLN) has a 42-year track record of creating effective, culturally centered programs for low-income communities of color, providing a comprehensive, holistic approach to break the cycle of poverty.
The South LA Peace & Healing Center will provide services for children and families, including addressing food and housing insecurity, access to mental health resources, quality health care, and education.
YMCA of Metro LA: Wilmington + Harbor Gateway Zone
The Wilmington YMCA is the leading community center in its area, serving 10,000 individuals from the Wilmington and Harbor-Gateway, and surrounding areas. Founded in 1911, the branch provided the city with its first-ever athletic facilities and sports fields, and for 105 years since, the Y continues to meet the evolving needs of our low-income community by providing free to low-cost health, wellness, education and leadership programs and services.
The Wilmington + Harbor Gateway Healing Center will provide fresh produce and groceries to 200 food insecure families within the Wilmington and Harbor-Gateway communities, early learning readiness and preschool to 8 low-income children and their families, family memberships to the Wilmington YMCA, and safe spaces for community dialogues and positive social health outcomes.
