As part of African American Heritage Month, LA Civil Rights partnered with Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson (CD8) to celebrate the work of renowned photographer Leroy Hamilton with a special gallery ribbon-cutting and reception at Los Angeles City Hall.

Hamilton’s exhibit, The Story of Us, serves as a powerful tribute to Black Los Angeles, capturing the resilience, brilliance, and contributions of its people. His photography not only documents history but amplifies it, ensuring that that the legacy of Black leaders, laborers, and families endures.

This year’s Black History Month theme, “African Americans and Labor,” highlights the deep connection between Black excellence and perseverance. Hamilton’s work embodies that spirit, honoring the struggles and triumphs of Black Angelenos across all fields.

LA Civil Rights is proud to uplift Black artists and storytellers like Leroy Hamilton, whose work preserves history and inspires future generations.
