LOS ANGELES - LA Civil Rights staff, volunteers and commissioners marched in the 38th Annual Kingdom Day Parade today, joining thousands celebrating the life and legacy of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on MLK Boulevard in South LA.
LA Civil Rights Executive Director Capri Maddox promised to "Keep the Dream Alive" from atop the LA Civil Rights vehicle in the parade, one of many featuring community, city and state leaders. LA Civil Rights staff walked the parade route, sharing information about the department.
Predictions of rain gave way to blue skies and sunshine as marchers made their way to Leimert Park Plaza. At the end of the parade route, LA Civil Rights staff were able to personally thank Dr. Adrian Dove, Chairman of the Congress on Racial Equity (CORE) which hosts the parade each year. Dr. Dove marched with Dr. King during the civil rights movement.
It was an honor to join the city in this celebration - and to continue the work to keep the dream alive. See pictures below!
