Executive Director Maddox was invited by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
At a panel discussion titled "Inclusive and Just," Maddox presented on the work of the LA Civil Rights Department, including our Discrimination Enforcement, Commissions, Office of Racial Equity, and LA For All Campaign. Maddox's presentation focused on how LA Civil Rights cross-cultural solidarity & equity work builds safer cities where everyone can find belonging.
Other panelists included leaders from Miami, Seoul, Tel Aviv and Tokyo. Maddox focused her remarks on Los Angeles' renowned diversity, which presents challenges and opportunities for cross-cultural growth and understanding. Los Angeles is home to many of the largest communities outside of their country of origin, including the largest Korean-American, Persian-American, Filipino-American, and Cambodian-American communities.
