EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR CAPRI MADDOX & HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION
PRESIDENT ANGELICA SOLIS-MONTERO ON THE INSURRECTION IN D.C.
LOS ANGELES - Capri Maddox, Executive Director of the Los Angeles Civil + Human Rights and Equity Department and Commissioner Angelica Solis-Montero, President of the Los Angeles Human Relations Commission, released the following joint statement regarding the failed insurrection in our nation's capital:
“What we have seen this week, from violent mobs storming Capitol Hill to the enabling of a dangerous president, is a painful reminder of why we must continue to expand civil rights, human rights and equity. It is not lost on us that the most violent attack on our nation’s capital since 1812 was an act of white supremacy that has thus far been met with little consequence. The Civil + Human Rights and Equity Department and the Human Relations Commission recognize this insurrection as emblematic of our nation’s long and violent history with racism, and a moment to recommit ourselves to the ideals of inclusion, equity and justice for all. We will continue our work to reduce discrimination, empower marginalized communities, and combat white supremacy without fear or apology.”
- Capri Maddox, Executive Director of the Los Angeles Civil + Human Rights and Equity Department, and Angelica Solis-Montero, President of the Los Angeles Human Relations Commission.
