May Song (she/her/hers) grew up in Hawai’i, and its diverse community and complex history inspired her passion for community-oriented, equity-based policy and law. Since coming to Los Angeles and majoring in public policy at the University of Southern California, her interest in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and its intersection with policy has only grown.
At USC, Song is currently the Pre-Law Project Director at the Joint Educational Project, where she connects pre-law undergraduate students with internships at local public interest law firms. As a former Pre-Law Project intern herself at Bet Tzedek and PESA, Song strongly believes in the importance for students to engage with and learn from the local community. She also works as Peer Educator for the Student Equity and Inclusion Program, where she facilitates DEI workshops for campus organizations.
In line with her interest in policy, Song previously interned at the Hawaii Department of Education’s Policy, Innovation, Planning, and Evaluation (PIPE). Additionally, she is an intern for the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office of Intergovernmental and Legislative Affairs.
Song is devoted to public service work and utilizing her personal skills and knowledge to address pressing issues impacting underserved communities. She hopes to pursue a career in government service, then attend law school to further her knowledge in policy and law.
