JeiRonemo Thomas serves as a Policy Fellow for the LA Civil Rights Department.
JeiRonemo graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from UCLA, and held a consistent and influential presence as a student leader. JeiRonemo also served as the chairman of UCLA’s Afrikan Student Union. Outside of academics, he worked within the SOS Initiative and the Compton Community Garden to assist in addressing the material conditions faced by underserved and neglected communities of the Greater Los Angeles Area.
JeiRonemo currently attends Cal State University, Los Angeles, where he is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Pan African Studies. His research specializes in understanding the ways in which Media and Representation influence Black political thought and behavior, and how political movements, policy, and theory must center the perspectives of Black working class and working poor communities in order to better address inequities. Additionally, JeiRonemo has interests in Abolitionist Frameworks as well as expanding the understanding of the experiences and theories of Black communities impacted by state institutions, especially the Foster Care System. Ultimately, his goal is to pursue a Ph.D in either Political Science or African American Studies, in order to teach at a University, as well as begin to publish research, books, and bring theoretical frameworks into action.
