Akib Rahman is a passionate and skilled public policy professional with a strong commitment to fostering equitable and impactful solutions for underserved communities. Currently serving as a Policy Fellow at the City of Los Angeles Civil + Human Rights and Equity Department, Akib leverages his expertise in policy analysis to advance civil rights and promote social equity across the City of Los Angeles.
With a Master of Public Policy from UCLA’s Luskin School of Public Affairs and dual Bachelor's degrees in International Studies and Political Science from UC Irvine, Akib’s academic and professional journey is deeply rooted in his commitment to underserved communities. His lived experience as a first-generation student from a working-class immigrant family fuels his drive to break down barriers and build more inclusive systems within public service.
Before joining LA Civil Rights, Akib worked as a Research Associate at Daley Strategies, where he led collaborative efforts with local government offices, non-profits, and community organizations to secure funding for impactful projects, such as transforming an abandoned county facility into a permanent campsite for foster youth. His collaborative work with organizations like LA Skyrail Express, BYD, and ViA has focused on advancing transportation equity and clean mobility solutions for Los Angeles.
In his role as a Graduate Student Researcher for the LA County Office of Education, Akib led a capstone project that explored the intersection of Esports and K-12 education, providing actionable policy recommendations that helped shape the educational outcomes of Esports programs in LA County.
