Policy Fellow

Mia is a second year student at the University of Southern California, studying American Studies and Ethnicity. Growing up, she did not feel fully represented in my K-12 education and wanted to learn a more comprehensive history of Latinx people. Her lived experiences has made her incredibly passionate about the importance of education in empowering students of color. She hopes to use her degree to continue to research how equitable, anti-racist education can transform classrooms, then apply it to public-interest law, where she plans to continue pushing the needle towards equitable, anti-racist laws and policies that include rather than exclude, and understand rather than criminalize communities of color. She is so excited to be joining LA Civil Rights and to work with a team of people who are also passionate about building a better world.
